FTD Hosts Interflora World Cup for First Time in U.S. since 1985

Florists’ Transworld Delivery (FTD) is proud to announce that it will organize and host Interflora World Cup, the world’s most prestigious floral design competition, in Philadelphia, PA, in March 2019. This is the first time the competition will be held in the United States since 1985.

The competition, named FTD World Cup 2019 in recognition of the event’s host organization, will include up to 30 of the world’s best designers selected to represent their countries.  FTD World Cup will take place from March 1-3 at the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show, the nation’s largest and longest-running horticultural event.  The competitors’ floral designs will remain on exhibit throughout the Show’s duration in its Main Exhibition Hall. The Flower Show attracts an average of 250,000 visitors annually.

“FTD is honored to be hosting such a prestigious international design competition and welcoming the floral community from around the world to the United States,” said Tom Moeller, FTD Executive Vice President, Florist. “Hosting this event is a significant investment by FTD, and it is an example of how we are supporting the industry and our members to rebuild the FTD brand and recreate a network of strong partnerships with the world’s best florists.”

The competition will kick off during the Flower Show’s members’ preview day and conclude with a gala event. All competitors will create four floral designs. The top 10 semifinalists will create an additional design, and the top five finalists will create one final design prior to the winner being announced. The competition winner will be named the Interflora World Cup Champion.

Alex Choi from South Korea wins the Fleurop-Interflora World Cup 2015.

Registration is open until September 1, 2018 for competitors from eligible countries with an affiliation to the worldwide floral network composed of Interflora, Fleurop and FTD. Only one competitor per country is accepted.

Ticket packages for the FTD World Cup events and Philadelphia Flower Show will be available beginning in late summer 2018.
